End of the Month - Review of September TradesTrading, it’s not just about entering and closing trades. It’s also about preparing for trading. It’s nearly the end of the month and I’ll be using this weekend to review my trades. I shall be looking at the following: Are my losing trades “good drawdown”. Was I following my system? If not this can be called bad drawdown and down to stupidity and not following my system. As my winners I am aware some were closed early and I need to review if I was following my system. Silver gets interestingAfter an uninspiring start, gold rallied yesterday afternoon and went on to hit a fresh record high above $2,680. It gave back a chunk of these gains in early trade this morning, but nothing too concerning for the bulls. This continues to be a good month for gold. It has now tacked on around $200, or 8%, from its low at the beginning of September. But it is noticeable that there hasn’t been a significant pullback so far, only the briefest, and shallowest, of consolidations just under a fortnight ago. This should keep traders on their toes, as it’s usual to see a correction of some sort or other after big market moves. The daily MACD is in ‘overbought’ territory, although that in itself isn’t an indication that there’s going to be a dramatic sell-off. But it’s likely that prices will correct at some stage. It’s then the nature of that correction which can provide clues as to what the market is likely to do next. Silver experienced another sharp spike higher yesterday which saw it climb to its highest level since December 2012. But it was unable to build on these gains and fell back as quickly as it rallied. Overall silver had a high-low range of close to a dollar, or 3%. This pick-up in volatility is a sign that, at last, silver is getting interesting.

Step 1: Trend Reversal on the Daily Chart My first signal came from observing the daily chart, where the downtrend in silver had been broken. This break in trend was significant, as it suggested that the sellers were losing momentum, potentially paving the way for buyers to step in. At this stage, my target was derived from the Liquidity Zone highlighted by the indicator. Step 2: Slowing Momentum and Indecision As i continued monitoring the market, i noticed momentum starting to slow down, indicated by two consecutive indecision candles. This hesitation hinted at a possible change in market sentiment. Meanwhile, the indicator detected an order flow imbalance, suggesting that unfilled orders could drive price movement. This imbalance aligned with a potential retest of the broken trend line, making it a high-probability trade setup. Step 3: Setting Up the Trade With both the trend line retest and the imbalance in mind, i set up my long trade. The entry point was placed at the trend line retest, expecting the market to fill the imbalance and move towards the liquidity zone. I placed my stop loss just below the imbalance to manage risk, ensuring that if the price moved against me, the loss would be contained.
