Occam's RazorEverything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.
That is a famous quote, sometimes written under "inspirational photos" of influencers on social media. It is attributed to Albert Einstein, he however expressed something more rough than that.
Einstein quoted: It can scarcely be denied that the supreme goal of all theory is to make the irreducible basic elements as simple and as few as possible without having to surrender the adequate representation of a single datum of experience.
Even though he was not a philosopher, he adopted what William of Ockham proposed hundreds of years ago. He believed that an explanation must come from the simplest set of elements. Occam's Razor is what defeats "Last Thursdayism" aka "the Omphalos hypothesis". Simplicity is stronger than complexity.
But enough of history and philosophy, I hear you say. This is an investment platform after all, we are tired of reading about theories.
The thing is, if you don't think before you buy, you end up in a loophole.
In an investment strategy that has no way in, and no way out.
From my mere two years of stock market analysis, I have one rough quote for your social media pics:
Clear your mind. Choose wisely your favorite ship, and pick your favorite destination.
Now sit back and relax. The time will come when the wind blows fair to your ways.
It is not exactly doric, but it will do for now.
So basically, there are two things you must decide and believe in. The type and the timing of investment. Contrary to what some may say to you, you actually need both.
If you aren't selective of your investment, then you better hope to break-even to inflation.
If you don't let the times ripe, then you don't do anything more, or less than a hodler. (or similarly an inflation mitigator)
The point I am trying to make is simple.
That investing must be simple...
...and charting must be simple. Hence Renko charts!
Some time ago, I discovered the interesting properties of these charts.
They "normalize" growth, from violent spikes to perfect pyramid fractals.
To an untrained investor, this chart is an oversimplification.
How on earth Minecraft is better than reality?
Answer: Legibility and Indicators
Legibility: The violent nature of stocks is tamed from this chart type. This was the original intention of the Japanese inventors.
Indicators: The unknown charisma of these charts is their magic behavior with indicators. They give powerful new ways to analyze prices.
So how and why do Renko charts surpass candlestick charts?
In classic (timed) charts like candle, the baseline is time. Rapid price breakouts and deadly black swans may come incredibly quick. Since most indicators depend on some amount of lookback (the length of a Moving Average for example), they under-weigh rapid events like black swans, and over-weigh slow, and perhaps, insignificant price movements.
In timeless charts like Renko, no detail is hidden. The appropriate amount of importance is shown to each point of price history.
With candles, momentum is time-based. With cubes, momentum is price-based.
Renko charts, even though are a big simplification, provide an entirely new visualization of charts, and all of that without exotic coding. Your indicators still work.
DXY shows subtle but important differences in bull-market analysis. More advanced indicators show this even clearer.
As a theoretical experiment, a trader waited for two candles of confirmation after KST broke down.
NVDA paired with Renko reveals its true face. Divergences hidden in plain sight.
And all of that with the most rudimentary of tools, MACD.
The point Renko tries to make is simple. A stable growth is a decisive growth. Renko punishes stocks that begin to exhibit backtests / retreats in price. By simplifying technical analysis and price data, the deep ocean becomes a child's pool. Accessible by everyone.
The point Grigori try to make is simple. That trading should not be considered to be astrophysics, because it clearly is not astrophysics. We are not Einsteins (some may be), but the majority are not (including me). We, as humans, need clear and simple arguments and data in order to make robust conclusions.
Final thought: The investor's mind must keep clear of chaotic charts and concentrate on picking the right ship, at the right time. Select beforehand your ultimate target. The earth is round. If you keep sailing without stopping, the time will certainly come, when you will reach ground-zero.
Tread lightly, for this is simple ground.
Father Grigori.
P.S. I will keep this idea updated with any interesting Renko vs Candle charts I discover.
SPX (S&P 500 Index)
SPX: a rate cut in (not) expectedThe oversold sentiment was holding the stock market during the previous week, however, the soft PCE report on Friday, brought back some optimism. The investors continue to be focused on the economic cycle movement, where small-cap indices gained during the week, while tech heavy indices were on a losing track. In this sense, Russell 2000 gained 1.67% during the week. The S&P 500 started the week around the level of 5.566, however, the lowest weekly level reached was 5.400. The index is ending the week at the level of 5.459. The industrial and materials stocks are currently in focus of investors, in anticipation that the environment of decreased interest rates would help these businesses in the future period. The tech companies included in the S&P 500 gained around 1% during the week.
The main macro driver of the stock market during the previous week was the PCE Index posted on Friday. The headline PCE was increased by 0.1% on a monthly basis and 2.5% y/y which was fully in line with the market estimates. The analysts are currently anticipating more rate cuts during this year, as inflation is evidently slowing down. The FOMC meeting is scheduled for the week ahead, where some further investors re-positioning might be expected, based on Fed`s rhetoric in an after-the-meeting conference.
Weekly Recap & Market Forecast $SPX (July 28th —>Aug 2nd)**DIYWallST Weekly Recap & Market Forecast**
---
Hello Investors! 🌟 This week was marked by significant economic and political developments, driving volatility in global stock markets. Let’s dive into the key events that shaped the financial landscape. 📈
**Market Overview:**
The week began with a surprise rate cut by China’s PBOC, but this was quickly overshadowed by President Biden’s announcement that he was dropping out of the race. The Democratic Party swiftly rallied around Kamala Harris, with endorsements pouring in from state governors and, ultimately, the Obamas. By the end of the week, Harris appeared to have secured the nomination. The political developments contributed to a 'Trump-trade' sentiment, with small-cap value stocks continuing to outperform mega-cap technology shares. The cool June CPI and subsequent soft data points have also fueled expectations of Fed rate cuts later this year, underpinning this market rotation.
The US yield curve steepened notably, with the 2-10 year spread popping above -15 bps, while the VIX rose sharply through Thursday. A letter from former NY Fed President Dudley may have increased investors’ expectations for a Fed rate cut. The Bank of Canada cut rates for the second straight meeting, while global PMI readings indicated some softening, particularly outside the services sector. Pulte’s home orders fell short of analyst expectations, and June existing home sales missed targets despite rising supply levels. Richmond Fed data was weak, and several major industrial and chemical companies cut their outlooks. June PCE data indicated “further progress” for the Fed, echoing concerns about discretionary spending and a softening consumer pushing back against price hikes.
**Stock Market Performance:**
- 📉 S&P 500: Down by 0.8%
- 📈 Dow Jones: Up by 0.8%
- 📉 NASDAQ: Down by 2.1%
- 📈 Russell 2000: Up by 3.3%
**Economic Indicators:**
- **US Yield Curve:** Steepened significantly with the 2-10 year spread popping above -15 bps.
- **June Existing Home Sales:** Missed expectations despite rising supply levels.
- **Richmond Fed Data:** Indicated economic weakness.
- **June PCE Data:** Showed progress in cooling inflation.
- **Bitcoin Prices:** Climbed ~5% ahead of Former President Trump’s appearance at a crypto conference.
- **Dollar and Yen:** The dollar remained steady, while the Yen rose amid speculation of a potential BOJ rate hike.
**Corporate News:**
- **Google and Tesla:** Earnings reports did little to curtail volatility. Tesla missed estimates and Google’s YouTube ad revenues fell short, leading to a decline in AI enthusiasm as Google's AI monetization efforts didn't meet investor expectations.
- **Ford Motor:** Shares tumbled after a significant earnings miss, with the company continuing to lose money on each EV it produces.
- **3M:** Shares surged after posting a big earnings beat, despite noting softness in consumer discretionary demand and mixed industrial end markets.
**Looking Ahead:**
Next week will feature several key events:
- **Fed Rate Decision**
- **Powell Press Conference**
- **U.S. Jobs Report**
- **Earnings Reports:** Microsoft ( NASDAQ:MSFT ), Apple ( NASDAQ:AAPL ), Meta ( NASDAQ:META ), Amazon ( NASDAQ:AMZN ), Intel ( NASDAQ:INTC ), ExxonMobil ( NYSE:XOM ), Chevron ( NYSE:CVX ), Boeing ( NYSE:BA ), and McDonald's ( NYSE:MCD ).
As we look forward, these developments will be crucial in shaping market sentiment and guiding investment decisions. If you have any questions or need further insights, feel free to reach out. Here’s to another week of informed investing and strategic decision-making! 🌟
### **Market Forecast (Updated 07/28/2024)**
**SPX** - TSLA reported poorly on their earnings + weak guidance from GOOGL drove the market down. Money continued to Rotate into Small Caps from tech sector last week.
With FOMC this week, we could potentially see a bottom in the market by Friday as we are pretty oversold at this point.
Next resistance $5505 and $5653
Next support $5423 and 5285
Weekly Sentiment = Oversold
**Chart Analysis:**
()
**Dollar Index:** DXY-Currently, the market is looking at 2-3 rate cuts by the end of the year, But we should get a clear picture from FOMC chair this week on exactly what they are thinking.
JPY is also starting to gain strength, Both of these things could weaken the DXY.
Next resistance $104.78
Support $104
Sentiment = Crossover to downside
**Put to call Ratio: 1.15—> 1.28
Next FOMC date: July 31, 2024**
**Fear & Greed Index: 49—>45**
! (prod-files-secure.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com)
**BTC:** Crypto market has been pretty strong and testing resistance, Trump spoke very highly of crypto as well but he also flip-flops a lot.
The key thing to watch here is the Dollar index, if that continues to drop, we could see btc test new highs.
However, we have a huge trendline at 68k and if we can break over it, it could start a bigger bull run as well.

SPY/QQQ Plan Your Trade 7-28 - Vortex Rally Phase InitiatesGood afternoon everyone,
This Sunday update highlights my SPY Cycle Patterns for next week and discusses my belief that the US stock market has entered a new Vortex Rally Phase.
For those unfamiliar with my extended research, every weekend, I spend more than 10 hours creating Custom Index charts and reviewing other proprietary data points while attempting to determine an outcome related to capital flows, expectations, and global market trends.
It's not like I sit here trying to study every global market. I have about 20+ Custom Index charts/data points that show me most of the data I need to see; then, I attempt to verify my expectations by looking at other data points/charts.
I'm seeing the start of a Vortex Rally (as I call it). This is something very important for traders to understand and is clearly defined in this video.
Get ready. We will see a solid US Stock market MELT-UP over the next 12+ months.

#202431 - priceactiontds - weekly update - sp500 e-mini futuresGood Evening and I hope you are well.
Quote from last week:
comment: Increased volume on the down move is telling you that this one is the real one. Over the next months, market will test down to the bull trend line from 2023-10, which is also where the weekly 20ema is. Friday we stopped around the smaller bull trend line and it’s a decent place to expect some pullback before we be on our way to 5400/5450
comment: Low of the week was 5432 and I wrote 5400/5450, +121 points. For most letters/rooms/subscriptions you have to pay good money for those outlooks, if you even get them this accurate. Hope you made some.
current market cycle: Bull trap triggered. Probably forming a trading range first before we get to the bear trend. First guess for the range would be 5300 -5600
key levels: 5400-5600
bull case: Lower lows and lower highs. Bulls stopped the selloff where they had to and their last bull trend line before only the one from the covid low remains. I do think the two legged correction is good for now for the bears and a bounce is due. Since both sides have reasonable arguments, I think it will come down to earnings. If the mag7 report good and their outlook stays good, we bounce higher. If they fail or some fail, we move sideways. Slightly favoring a higher bounce to form a proper channel downwards. Decent chance bulls might close both bear gaps.
Invalidation is below 5400.
bear case: Bears see another minor pullback which could not even get to the daily 20ema at 5640. They want another strong leg down to 5300 to make it clear that the bull trend is dead. It’s not out of the picture that they get it. Probability wise, it’s more reasonable to expect the bull trend line to hold and at least go more sideways before another leg down. Issue with that is, that next week we have so many news that will have a big influence on longer term traders, that we will most likely go higher than 5500 or lower than 5400. For bears it’s a really bad short right at the big support. You can scalp short on strong momentum again but bears will likely wait for a pullback before they try again. My preferred path forward is the bear channel on my chart below.
Invalidation is above 5600.
outlook last week:
short term: Bearish but also expecting a pullback first. Same as dax.
→ Last Sunday we traded 5553 and now we are at 5499. Low was 5432. Bearish was right. Pullback was right. Hope you made some.
short term: Neutral. Both sides have valid arguments. Will make this dependent on earnings and will only do scalps for now. Market has to form a better channel if it wants a sustained down move.
medium-long term: First target for this section was 5450 and that will be hit over the next days or 2 weeks. After that is 5300 over the next 3-8 weeks and 5000 could be hit again in 2024. —update: 5450 was hit mid July. Next comes 5300 over the next 2-6 weeks.
current swing trade: Took profits on the swing short from 5700. Will add again above 5550.
chart update: Added my preferred bear channel for the next weeks.
Industrial Production, and how it can help us time larger cyclesIn this video I use Industrial Production, and more specifically, its Rate Of Change to show how we can approximate Booms and Busts in the "Business Cycle".
I also go over previous cycles, and what to look for in our current cycle.
As always, good luck, have fun, and practice solid risk management.
SPX | The Sleeping PilotTraders have made the ultimate mistake, they were caught sleeping on the steering wheel.
And after missing the trend, they attempt to enter it again, only to realize that they have trapped themselves.
A question arises: Were they sleeping or are they performing a suicide attack?
SPX is like a sharp kamikaze plane. Perhaps of Japanese origin, closing in to Perl Harbor.
A wise one should never cut towards them. A knife pointing upwards can only kill bulls.
If they wish prices to go up, they must turn the knife down, to kill any bears that step in their way.
But it seems though the markets are not wise right now.
A successful kamikaze is a fearless kamikaze.
All was well when the soldier was certain of their attack. SPX has been moving in perfect correlation with fearless index, aka VVIX / VIX ratio (orange line).
But now they have second thoughts. And that is their weakness.
SPX is heading upwards with growing fear right now.
VVIX/VIX is the thought, SPX is the action. We are in a jet lag, in no mans land.
The seconds before the pilot moves the joystick back instead of forward.
This is not the first time we are dealing with a soldier who is having second thoughts.
Once in 2018...
...another one in 2020...
...and finally in 2021.
This fight is almost over for the bulls.
Question is: Who will win the war?
Tread lightly, for this is hallowed ground.

P.S. Many have made jokes about the POTUS as being sleepy.
Never call someone something you don't want to be called yourself.
The Apple DominionThe weakest minion can terminate the Apple dominion.
Apples, like all fruit, are born to serve two purposes.
To spread the apple species and to feed birds, worms and humans.
The life of the apple is interesting to watch. It began as a tiny seed in the fields of NASDAQ in 1980, weighing at $0.39 (or grams).
Now the apple has grown to be almost 800 grams. That is record heavy for an apple.
(There have been several stock splits that lowered the price of each apple)
The miracle of nature is, that a tiny cell can multiply thousands upon thousands of times. In this case, our apple fruit has grown almost 2000x since its birth.
We have fed off of apples for a long long time.
The consumption of apples (measured in pieces) reached its peak in 2010.
Most who needed to eat a single apple, have eaten it. Volume is significantly decreasing.
This apple fruit is now massive in size. No sane person would eat 800 grams of apple in an evening. Of course volume has significantly weakened. Now with a single apple you can feed an entire family.
To make some sense of the real need for apples, we have to consider the daily consumption of apples in grams, not in a piece-by-piece basis.
This indicators makes a very simple calculation. It multiplies volume with the logarithm of price.
If we wish to compare price to volume, we must convert them both in the same scale.
Volume is linear, while price is logarithmic. To compare apples to apples, price must be turned into a linear number.
An interesting phenomenon takes shape right in front of our eyes.
Apple consumption reached its peak in 2008. From then, the market is getting progressively more saturated in apples.
Think about it. Everyone who needed an apple, has eaten one.
There is almost nobody left who has never eaten an apple.
Up until 2008, most the majority of apples went into our mouths.
Now, the majority of apples will have to evacuate through the back door.
Consumers have eaten too much of everything, not just apples.
Similar saturation problems occur in the wider feed (equity) market.
Stepping aside from the wider eating problem, we can perform some more analysis on recent price action of apples. To further support the following analysis, I will consult some professionals. Robert D. Edwards, John Magee and W.H.C. Bassetti. In their book called "Technical Analysis of Stock Trends (Eleventh Edition)", in page 62 there is an incredible chart.
As it turns out, Head-and-Shoulders patterns can be non-normal. With many bumps for heads and shoulders. This chart will be used as a guideline for recent apple prices.
These charts are too similar to ignore. Truth is usually hidden right under our noses. We may choose to ignore it, but it still exists.
While the NL (Neck Line) trend is intact, a wider trend is at risk.
Even if price tries to cloud your judgement using fakeouts, you must stay strong in your view.
And if you are afraid of being wrong, you must find more ways to prove that you are not an elephant.
Tread lightly, for this is hallowed ground.

The Dot-AI BubbleSpeculative bubbles excite traders and investors alike.
NVDA is the absolute winner of the AI craze.
Craze is the sentiment of the market cycle peak.
After craze and euphoria, fear and denial will inevitably flood our minds.
It is nothing more than the never-ending cycle of the economy.
A simple line drawn on a chart spells the ultimate demise for speculation.
NVDA is making all-time-highs. Its performance/momentum however is showing alarming signs of weakness.
Beware. Not all is as it seems.
The very nature of a Bubble is that it defies all measurable mathematics.
NVDA wants more. It wants everything. Just like any other corporation would.
For capitalism, more equals more.
NVDA aims to swallow the entire money supply. Improbable as it may seem, physics theoretically allows that.
Divergence is one of the most misunderstood concepts in analysis. Divergence is not describing a future weakness. It describes the current weakness.
NVDA is moving so fast, that its bear market is itself growing exponentially.
If NVDA is now moving slower now than it was in 2015-2018, how fast is it trying to go?
NVDA remembers the explosiveness of that period, and is trying everything to repeat it.
Prices and investors have memory. Both however forget the well-known saying.
Past performance does not guarantee future performance.
This is the Achilles' heel of prices. They promise what they cannot deliver.
Price will reach as high as possible, for as long as there is a willing buyer to take the bait.
For capitalism, more is better, at all costs. The ultimate cost will certainly be paid.
The last buyer will be the last NVDA bear who will give-in the mania. And that will mark the end.
Tread lightly, for this is hallowed ground.

Combined US Indexes shows imminent troublesThe week earlier saw the combined index chart log a double top, where last week started to break down. By midweek, the gap (from the previous rally after a breakout) closed. The week ended with a gap reopening.
On Friday, this would normally signal a reversal and a bullish reopening of the gap, but it looks a lot less likely given that the MACD is clearly downtrending, as well as the VolDiv confirming bearishness in more ways than one... going below zero line, etc.
So, for what it is worth, the reopening is likely to be a flash in the pan, and once it makes a lower low next week, it would really let it go - DOWN
SPY/QQQ Plan Your Trade 7-26 Base/Support Rally PatternThe markets are struggling to break away from the morning congestion.
I, personally, want to see the SPY move above $550-551 (filling the gap) before I'm going to consider any potential upward trend.
The past few days have been frustrating for me and my Cycle Patterns. The Kamala-Crush, as I call it, came out of nowhere and crushed the market trend.
The SPY was holding up fairly well on Monday/Tuesday this week but was crushed on Wednesday - the Day of Biden's resignation and Kamala's take-over. I see this as traders/investors actively moving capital away from risks and profits.
Now that we are nearing the end of the week, the dust will settle, and we'll move back to more normal types of trading/trending.
In the next few weeks, SPY Cycle Patterns show moderate upside trending. It should be fun.
Remember, stay focused on your objectives and learn to develop proper risk containment for your trading.

SPY/QQQ Plan Your Trade for 7-26 - Top/Resistance Counter-TrendToday's Counter-trend pattern is a Top/Resistance pattern.
This pattern usually reflects a price peak setup - rolling into a downward price trend. But it is in a Counter-trend formation today - so we should expect a base/bottom setup rolling into a bullish price trend.
This video covers the SPY/QQQ/Gold, and I expect the "Kamala-Shakeout" may be nearly over in terms of market disruption (at least for now).
I strongly believe this is a moderate price shakeout. Traders are reacting to the new Democratic nominee (Kamala Harris) and the sudden change in expectations related to the Presidential election outcome.
I could be wrong, but it makes sense to me that this sudden change would be reflected throughout the global markets as a repositioning of capital (related to risks).
Let's see if the markets can hold this base/bottom setup over the past 2 days.
I really want to see the SPY above $550~551 to settle above my A/B level related to risks. A move back above $550-551 would indicate price has rejected the current downward swing.
Get some.

SPx, Bearish Area in correction caseS&P 500 Analysis: Bearish Area in correction case
The SPx corrected the price to their resistance of 5460 and as long as under 5460 means falling to get 5409, so still running and consolidating between 5460 and 5409.
Bullish Scenario:
the price should reverse and stabilize above 5460 to a bullish trend toward 5491 and 5525
**Bearish Scenario:**
The price will continue their dropping to reach 5409 and then should stabilize below that to be a downtrend till 5372 and 5346
Key Levels:
- Pivot Line: 5460
- Resistance Levels: 5490, 5525, 5512
- Support Levels: 5409, 5372, 5346
Today's Expected Trading Range:
The expected trading range is between the resistance at 5491 and the support at 5372.
S&P500 Bottom of the 8-month Channel. Strong buy signal. The S&P50 index (SPX) broke on Wednesday below its 1D MA50 (blue trend-line) for the first time since May 06 and yesterday touched the bottom of the 8-month Channel Up pattern that started after the October 27 2024 market Low.
Technically we are on the most optimal buy level on the medium-term and this is possibly the reason that the day has started on a bullish note. The 1D RSI is at the same time at 40.00 for the first time in 3 months, so slightly into the long-term Buy Zone.
As long as the 1D MA100 (green trend-line) holds, we will be bullish, targeting 6200 (below a the +28.56% mark, which was the % rise of the previous Bullish Leg). If the price breaks below the 1D MA100, we will short up to the 1D MA200 (orange trend-line) where we will buy again heavily for the long-term (same Target).

Deckers Outdoor Corp. The Epic Bullish BreakthroughShares of Hoka-owner Deckers Outdoor rose in after-hours trading Thursday after the company handily beat Wall Street expectations in its fiscal fourth quarter.
The stock was recently up 9.4% to $990, following a 1.3% rise at the close. Shares are up about 35% this year as of the close.
The Goleta, Calif.-based shoe and apparel company, which also owns the Ugg and Teva brands, said its sales rose 21% to $959.8 million, ahead of the $888.5 million expected by analysts polled by FactSet.
Hoka brand sales were up 34% and Ugg rose 15%. Teva brand sales fell 16%.
The company posted a profit of $127.5 million, or $4.95 a share, in the three months ended March 31, compared with a profit of $91.8 million, or $3.46 a share, a year earlier. Analysts polled by FactSet expected a per-share profit of $3.10.
Deckers expects revenue to increase about 10% to $4.7 billion in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025.
The company expects $29.50 to $30 in per-share earnings for the period, compared with the $30.74 a share expected by analysts polled by FactSet.
Technical graph indicates on strong Bullish momentum in Deckers (DECK) shares, that based on my expectations is able to deliver stocks up to $1400 per share.
S&P dragged down by US politicsLast week, the market was significantly affected by political uncertainty in the US. Technically, everything looked decent, and there was no change in fundamentals as inflation continued to slow down and banks reported positively. Given this, I was expecting a rotation within a narrow range, but the uncertainty was too strong, causing a sell-off in all major sectors (see Market Strength Index). The only sector that showed some resilience was Financials, but even it eventually succumbed. The week closed very weak, with a bearish engulfing candle, which formally starts a weekly consolidation.
It is important to remember that the market is still in a weekly uptrend, and we should treat weekly consolidations as short-term pullbacks until the price sets a convincing lower high on the weekly chart. I would expect the price to try retesting the gap from Wednesday, the 17th. Whether this retest is successful or not will determine the future of the market. It is also likely that in the coming months, the market will be very sensitive to political developments.

SPY/QQQ Plan Your Trade 7-25 EOD Wrap-up - Kamala-CrushThis is an End Of Day wrap-up related to the continued downward price trends the US markets are experiencing.
As I continue to research why the US markets are contracting so suddenly, the only thing that makes sense to me is what I call the "Kamala-Factor."
Suddenly, last weekend, Kamala Harris went from the sidelines to front-n-center.
Monday, everyone talked about Kamala Harris as the new Dem candidate after Biden pulled out of the race.
By Tuesday night, Kamala Harris had secured enough delegates for the Dem nomination.
Wednesday morning - the markets CRASHED.
Today, we saw a little bounce near support, but the markets continued to sell downward into the close.
As far as I'm concerned, this is actually FEAR related to Kamala's policies, plans, and leadership. Traders/investors are suddenly moving capital away from sectors they believe could be at risk of a further collapse.
This is the only reasonable response to the sudden collapse of the major US indexes—gold, Silver, Oil, Transportation Index, and others—while the VIX suddenly shot up to 18+.
The short story Kamala Harris scares people, particularly investors/traders and large investment firms. As a result, they are moving capital away from risk factors before the US POTUS election.
We need to see the US markets find support, or we could be in for a deeper market downturn.

2024-07-24 - priceactiontds - daily update - sp500Good Evening and I hope you are well.
comment: A trading range after a strong move is more often than not the final flag. Yesterday we formed a late trading range and bulls had a strong move up today, which makes me believe that the sell into the close was the final flag, rather the start of another leg down. Market is at huge support with the bull trend line from October and no one expects it to break on the first try. Can we dip below before a stronger pullback? Sure. Odds still favor the bulls for a pullback, at least to the 4h again, like the bull spike today. I have drawn 2 potential paths forward but as always, wait for the market to show its direction and not guess it and most certainly do not trade before it’s happening.
current market cycle: Trading range until 5500 is clearly broken. But bubble has popped. Enjoy the ride down.
key levels: 5400 - 5560
bull case: Bulls got a strong bounce to the 4h 20ema today. Tomorrow they want to defend the bull trend line from 2023-10 and keep the market above 5500, which is still max bullish if you look at higher tf.
Invalidation is below 5400.
bear case: Bears are in control of the market and in full STR mode. The bounce today was strong but bears reversed it even harder. They are trading below all important ema and their only target for the rest of the month is to break the big bull trend line, which would put bulls in panic mode. Such important trend lines mostly have to be poked at a couple of times before market can break through. If they step aside for another pullback higher, they need to keep it below 5533 or market will test 5560/5570 again.
Invalidation is above 5533.
short term: Slightly bullish with a clear invalidation price of 5430. Odds slightly favor the bulls for a second leg up and go sideways around 5500. If bears manage to break below the bull trend line, next support is at 5300.
medium-long term: Bearish. We will see 5000 over the next weeks again and 4600 over the next 12 months. Will update this time and price wise over the weekend but I expect to at least see 5000 over the next months in 2024. —unchanged
current swing trade: Closed my swing short from 5700 at 5450. I expect a pullback and will short it again.
trade of the day: Buying the opening reversal from 5432. On the 5m chart bears just quickly gave up and market made 97 up. Very strong 3 bar reversal and difficult to take after the 40 point drop from the open. Taking the short afterwards was probably easier and better. Market turned at the 4h 20ema and only spent 1h at around 5520 before bears printed a strong 15m bear bar which was strong enough to go short as it closed. On the chart it was bar 13
MidCap vs. LargeCap. Technical & Fundamental Levels to WatchThe Russell 2000 trailed the S&P 500 significantly in 2023, gaining about 17% compared to a gain of about 24% for the large cap index. That underperformance has spilled over into 2024.
As of July 10, 2024 the Russell 2000 YTD is about Zero compared to a 17.75% gain in the S&P 500 (SPX) and 23.50 gain in Nasdaq Composite Index (IXIC).
By the way, that valuation measures make the small cap Russell 2000 index much more compelling when compared to the S&P 500.
Small caps relative to the S&P 500 on a price-to-book basis is back to where it was in 1999.
As of June 30, 2024 small caps price-to-book (P/B) ratio is 2.10, as it described on FTSE Russell 2000 Index Factsheet, while Total US Market (Russell 3000) P/B ratio is 4.42.
I'll be brief. Perhaps it will be the briefest brief over the past ten god years I'm here on TV.
DON'T MISS IT, AS IT ONE PER LIFE OPPORTUNITY.
The main technical graph is ratio between RUT (Russell 2000 Index) and S&P500 Index, and it back to support that was never seen over the past 25 years, since March 1999.
What's happened with market at these times?
⭐ Nasdaq Composite Index doubled in price over the next 12 months (March, 1999 - March, 2000), than turned 4x down.
⭐ S&P500 Index printed +20 per cents (March, 1999 - March, 2000), than turned 2x down.
⭐ March 1999 was the absolute low and was a launch point of 12 years of outperformance for Small caps vs Large caps.
Will history repeat itself..? Who knows... But personally I believe - Yes, it can.
SPY/QQQ Plan Your Trade 7-25 : Temp-Bottom UpdateGood afternoon everyone,
Today's Temp-Bottom pattern played out perfectly after what I'm calling the Kamala-Shakeout on 7/24.
The SPY price is struggling to find support near the 2x StdDev lower channel and appears to have bounced higher into a new short/intermediate-term Bullish price trend.
If you've been following my research, you already know how powerful and accurate my SPY Cycle Patterns are and how they do not take into account news, politics, or other outside crisis events. They are psychologically reflective of Fibonacci/Gann price cycles/structures—nothing else.
I believe the SPY will attempt to squeeze higher into the close today, setting up another bottom-reversal pattern tomorrow (a counter-trend Top Reversal). The Counter-trend type suggests the pattern will be inverted.
If my analysis is correct, we'll see the SPY move into a more solid Bullish price trend by tomorrow and then continue to try to break above the $560 level again.
Here we go...
